  • Site or Lot Classification is required for residential and industrial developments. It assesses the sensitivity of the subsurface material to seasonal moisture content changes, their consequent vertical movement and their impact on the foundation over which a building is founded on. Site/lot classification is carried out in accordance with Australian Standards AS 2870-2011 Residential slabs and footings.

    Typical classifications in Sydney include:

  • Class A: Little or no ground movement
  • Class S: Slightly reactive sites
  • Class M: Moderately reactive sites
  • Class H: Highly reactive sites
  • Class E: Extremely reactive sites
  • Class P: Problem site

  • Geotechnical design parameters are used by engineers to study soil behaviour and to design foundations for a proposed structure. Geotechnical engineers at Epoch are highly experienced in interpretation of geotechnical data to derive site speficic geotechnical design parameters.

Whether you are planning to build a retaining wall, a residential house or an industrial building, Epoch engineers can provide you with geotechnical design parameters that you need for your project.

Pavements can be classified into two categories including Rigid pavements and Flexible pavements. Flexible pavements are those that can deform under traffic loads without significant cracking. They are mainly made up of granular material that are able to transfer the load to the subgrade by intergranual pressure.

Rigid pavements are mainly concreted pavemented that are able to take heavy concentrated loads and distribute it over a larger surface areas underneath.

Engineers at Epoch can assist you with the selection of the right pavement type and the desgn of it.

Slope stability analysis is carried out to assess the stability of natural or man-made slopes including embankments, road cuts, open-pit mining, excavations etc.

Epoch engineers are equipped with the required experience and skills to conduct slope stability analysis by using the most appropriate method to the slope stability problem.

Buying a property can be very risky if you do not have the right information about the property that you are planning to buy. What is hidden beneath the surface of the ground is as important as what is built on top of it. Epoch can help you assess the property that you are planning to buy and provide you a report containing key findings that you, the buyer, must consider before you make your purchase.

Desktop studies includes review ofgeotechnical data and reports, maps, strctural drawings and historical data to gain a preliminary understanding of a particular site.
